Gearing Up for Mr Trout

For Your Workbench

Fly-Making Raw Materials

As a physician, you learn that a delicate procedure can depend as much on having the right tools as it does on having the right technique. That's why there are a few important items that you'll always find near the workbench where I craft my flies.

For Your Bookshelf

Coming Soon: The Doctor's Reading List

Just like any art, fly-fishing is greatly improved by knowing something more than the basics about the history, development, and nuance of the practice. The Googles can provide you with some degree of this. But to get the deeper and darker art, you'll need to bend a few spines. And not in the chiropractic sense.

For the Water

Coming soon: Skimming, Floating, and Wading

Mr Trout doesn't always make himself as accessible as we anglers might wish. You have to know your way around his neighborhood if you're going to get a fly under his nose. And when he's being particularly elusive, having the right gear for wet-work can make the difference between a successful afternoon and a few hours of casting practice.
